As a complement to physical textile swatches, fabric fairs and prototype samples MADH is leading a project on digital fabric development together with Calik Denim and AMFI (amsterdam fashion institute). Digital versions allow us to quickly simulate appearance and try out ideas with less environmental impact. As a complement tool, it provides quality fabric data and ideas for actual looks.
DIGITAL FABRICS
When building our responsibility strategy at MADH we reached out to Amsterdam fashion institute. Goal was to involve a generation of fashion students.
Together with student activist collective Dirty Laundry, part of AMFI (Amsterdam fashion institute), we organized digital workshops. The main topic is "what defines a responsible fashion brand”. Through many different sessions, students took part in shaping the strategy for MADH.
MADH X DIRTY LAUNDRY
As the first brand in the world in collaboration with Candiani Denim Italy Madh is introducing an innovation BLUE SEED A unique cotton fiber grown with regenerative agriculture Fully traceable and more durable than conventional cotton
This fiber is designed to be more resistant in the field, requiring less water and chemical inputs compared to conventional cotton. Denim is connected with durability and the longer we can wear our garments - the better for the environmental impact. Candiani Denim Italy has co-engineered the Blue Seed with Gowan Seed Company, an international group with diversified interests in the agricultural industry, and grown it with farmers in Spain. Cotton seeds are assigned to the desired farmers and grown using regenerative agriculture practices, which mainly aim to enhance soil health and rebalance ecosystems. It is an ongoing improvement process.
